This brass relief beautifully captures the spirit of my approach to sailing in the Aegean therefore in the Mediterranean. At its center is Eros, accompanied by the Nereids, the sea nymphs who man the sheets. It’s not merely an image; it’s a metaphor for the journey I invite participants to embark on. Because sailing is not just a connection with wind but also a communion with the sea which is more than a physical space. It is a timeless passage, rich in symbols and insights.
Our sailing experiences in the Mediterranean are, at the same time, cultural journeys, where the wind in the sails is joined by stories from millennia ago and sailing becomes more than a skill. It becomes a way to rediscover epic stories like that of the Odyssey- stories that have shaped us, and continue to do so.
Thus, we don’t just navigate with charts, we navigate with meaning, following the tracks of our ancestors and gazing at the same sky they once did.
In these waters, sailing is not only about mastering skills—it’s a gateway to a different richness of life.
