Practical Courses
- Start Yachting: Introduction to sail cruising. A-2 day course on board.
- Competent Crew: Learn essential seamanship, sail handling, steering, and keeping a lookout. A 5-day course on board.
- Day Skipper: Master the skills required to skipper a cruising yacht safely by day in familiar waters. A 5-day course on board.
- Coastal Skipper: Advanced techniques to skipper a yacht safely on coastal and offshore passages by day and night. A 5-day course on board.
- Yachtmaster Coastal and Offshore Prep: Preparation for the YM Coastal and Offshore practical exam, covering the syllabus and refining your skills.
Theory Courses:
Theory courses provide the knowledge required for practical levels. It is recommended to complete them before practical courses, depending on your experience.
These are typically 5-day shore-based courses or can be taken online via RYA Recognized Training Centers:
- Essential Navigation and Seamanship
- Day Skipper Theory
- Coastal Skipper & Yachtmaster Offshore Theory
- Marine Radio (SRC): Short-Range Certificate course. A 1-day shore-based or online course (can be taken before or after practical courses).
