Ahoy!

I am Nihan, a freelance Royal Yachting Association Yachtmaster Instructor Sail, born in the same sea as Aphrodite and the Sirens. When I say 'the same sea,' I mean the Mediterranean, or more specifically, the Aegean.  It is the spray and the breeze that have shaped who I am even more than my family. Through the contributions of my second profession, English teaching, to my language skills and pedagogy, I had the opportunity to offer my sailing instruction to a large part of the world.

One significant difference I have compared to many instructors is my desire to share the knowledge, which is the product of my "cultural meditation" rooted  in my background, with the participants while teaching sailing in the Mediterranean. My experience has shown that three-thousand-years-old civilizations have reflections in our daily lives that we often don't notice! Participants are always amazed when they hear about these connections. So, in addition to sailing training, it is possible to gain fringe benefits for those who listen- ranging from the perfection of "decision-making techniques" to mythology, which influences philosophy. If we consider expressions such as "the taste of grilled fish on a bed of avocado"  frequently encountered in today's refined cuisines, what I am trying to do is offer “Perfect sailing skills on a bed of cultural meditation’’ training. Thus, the water flowing under the boat is not alone; the remoras who disguise themselves as cultural ambassadors, follow us as well.
